The Grandaddy of monster make-up and visionary creator of the Universal 'look' for such creepers as Dracula, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, Karloff's Frankenstein monster, The Wolfman, and the Mummy amongst many others, has yet to be given a Star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
How can this be? Why has he been overlooked. Well, Jack Pierce the master of make-up and Universal had, shall we say, a not so friendly severing during the end of Hollywood's Golden Years. Add to that the cost of getting a Star in place needs to be raised. I've heard as much as $50,000 and as little as $30,000, but still, truly, a drop in a very large bucket for a studio of this size.
