2008: A great year for horror games |

I don't know what it is, but the last 3 years or so have made my supposed job on HW to be something of an honorary title, as there was NOTHING coming out
in the horror genre I could play. Looking around vaguely this year (and some my be pushed back to next year) are:

That's alright, Minion. There's been precious little released for the PC this past couple of years as well that's worth invest time and cash in.
Seems the consoles have killed the drive to supply us PC diehards with anything groovey. I keep going back to the same olds in order to get a little play time
in. I'd sure hate to have to resort to bowling with a WII.

I'd be able to do more on the PC if VISTA hadn't made it so I cannot install anything....grrr.. -will fix that in about a month, after college- Less
than a year after I upgrade my entire computer it's effectively useless for more than 5 months.
and bowling of the Wii is surprisingly fun..... if you like bowling.... and cheaper..... if you already have a Wii or go bowling A LOT. They're also releasing some of the house of the deads on the wii, not that I'm all that intrigued. Stalker's prequel is coming out this year too, and the last one had a little horror in the mix. And I just have to be a nerd and talk about borderlands (Xbox 360, PS3, PC). It looks like a FPS mixed with Diablo, with a few others mixed in, but with an unprecidented amount of guns..... More than 500,000 different guns to be more precise (and no that is not a typo) this is not including the more than 500,000 other bits of equipment. These aren't just lots of differents stats for the same gun skins either, every single one looks different from the others. I'm so getting this on 360 'cause the requirements for the computer have got to be ridiculous. Also the built in Co-op nature of the game is interesting. ---

Heard nothing but bad things about Vista. That sucks. I just finished upgrading my old best cheaply. The next one is gunna cost though. I replaced my CPU and
the graphics card and pumped up my RAM in the last 6 months and it barely runs the material out in the last year, never mind the really new games. If I want to
upgrade again I'll have to replace the motherboard, then all the other stuff...again.
It's just not fair to ask or demand the consumer to have to do this every year. Nor do I think it necessary for most games. I'm not buying another console, ever. Period. I got burned on the two I have bought and refuse to give them anymore cash. Tk |

Vista is a good operating system...for me to POOP on!!! :)
I played the House Of The Dead game on the Wii-I'm a sucker for shooter games-but the lack of a good save made it pretty damned frustrating. Yeah, the graphics were dated, but I never get tired of shooting stuff. As for pc vs Wii vs Xbox vs PS3...I dunno. The Wii is fun, but there's a shortage of really good games, and the ones that are there are $$$$. A lot of the games that are out there don't take advantage of the Wii's eerie powers. Xbox has a lot of fun-looking games, but the 33% failure rate makes me leery of ever buying one. Save yer pennies, good troll, and buy a PS3. Maybe by the time they're affordable enough to buy one there'll be some good games to go with them.

Can't wait for THE FORCE UNLEASHED this fall. Even if it's just a pvp aspect of the game, I can't wait to swing a lightsaber using my wiimote.
You should not have come back, old man.

Well, as far as I know, it's not going to be amazingly accurate with the lightsaber actions on the Wiimote. They've hinted that they're working on
one that will give very precise control over a lightsaber, but that's all I know.

Well, I was not up to day on the Wii controls for TFU, but the graphics are less than steller (when compared to the 360 version it makes me sad). I'll
prolly rent it to try it out w/ the wiimote

Hmm, perhaps someone will buy me a PS3 by next xmas if I still have a job. Then I could get TFU and GTA4.
