This is from GameSpy Daily. I truly think this is about damn time. What's killing the PC game industry is gamers getting fed up chasing the new high end graphics cards, which by the way have gotten to be the price of a full destop system at 379.00 . Ridiculous.

| Major PC Industry Players Form Alliance |
According to this article in the San Jose
Mercury News, major players in the PC industry may be getting together to coordinate their efforts and make the PC more viable and accessible as a
gaming platform:
"Companies with a vested interest in keeping the PC alive as a gaming platform will soon announce a consortium dubbed the PC Gaming Alliance. According to two people familiar with the effort, it will include top industry players such as Intel, Microsoft, Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices as well as a number of computer companies..." "The industry consortium will focus on fixing problems that make the PC a less desirable platform than consoles for playing games. Gamers, for instance, never really know whether a game will run well on their computers until they buy the game and install it on their machines at home." It's good to see the bigger players getting together. I know that Microsoft Vista was supposed to make PC gaming easier, but instead compatibility issues have had the opposite effect. I don't think any sweeping changes to PC gaming will make it as easy/accessible as playing games from your couch, although there's a lot that can be done. I hope it happens: there are still plenty of gaming experiences that are best enjoyed on a PC, especially if you're a fan of more complex titles. -Fargo |
