So just how difficult do you like your games? |

Me? I just detest a steep learning curve. I am a reward gamer. Too many kills in too short a time and I AM DONE. Morrow Wind was one of those. I just could
not get a handle on the camera and ended up an inordinate time on my back in the ditches.

The difficulty of the new games is a major pain for an arthritic old fart like myself. Games should be fun, not work. There's the rub,
finding the thin balancing line between reward and consequence. I've abandoned several games [GTA Vice Ciy, GTA San Andreas, Manhunt] because I simply got
stuck, became frustrated, and gave up.

I've gotten stuck in several games due to either extremely difficult parts that I do not like doing for hours on end and also because of glitches in the
game. I've gotten stuck in Rainbow Six Las Vegas 'cause I can't get past one part. Bioshock shuts down on me again and again. A peeve with RTSs is
that they tend to have a rock paper scissors style of unit creation, everything has something that can kill it in no time, so you have to mass produce
everything just in case. Then there are just bad games that make you not care (Darkwatch for example, or Resident Evil Outbreak) which is fully the game's
fault.
I too found Morrowwind to be an excercise in irritation, as your character when you start cannot hit anything, even when it's 4 inches from his face. I've found the sequel oblivion to be more than I ever could have hoped for, it solves all of the problems of Morrowwind and makes it one of my favorite games of all time. ---

OBLIVION, eh? I had been avoiding it since my disappointment with Morrow Wind. Maybe I'll have another look now. Should be able to find an inexpensive copy
without too much trouble. Neverwinter Nights II, just blew. After such a fun first release this just caught me by surprise. The tool kit is uber nice but the
game play in II is so dark in the interiors ya have to adjust your LCD. NPCs that HAVE to come along. It's even more linear than the first one rather than
less. My machine simply would not run it smoothly, even after upgrading my CPU, doubling my ram to 2 gigs and replacing my graphics card with a 512mg Nvidia.
I even turned all the vid goodies down to minimums or turned them off altogether. Pretty sad. One should not need a monster gaming machine to play solid
quality games. Proof in point. I loaded up Dungeon Seige II and it runs like a hot damn.
For God's Sake you developers, stop pushing the envelope for a while and let people get caught up. Tk |

Hey, don't laugh, some of the new Mario games can be pretty frick'n hard! ;)
I want to try Oblivion too, but you can't get it around here, except for PS3 or 360.

I have my kids trained to not need games when they come out and are new and expensive. This goes for computers as well. Haven't upgraded my computer in 5
years. Odds are that pretty soon it will be totally obsolete for gaming, but until then I have lots of games that still work.
World Of Warcraft is my main gaming vice, kids as well. Before that it was Diablo 2. JimmyZ |

How do they not have Oblvions for PC there? If so, online would be the best way to nab it. (I don't suggest it for the consoles, as it far less playable
there.)
And I think that Diablo I was far better than Diablo II. ---

Diablo I...really? Never even played it. It came with the Battle Chest, but I got hooked on Diablo II

It takes a lot for me to completely give up on a game. It may take me a while but goddamnit I will finish! I've found it's mostly RPGs that I take
really long breaks from. I haven't played Final Fantasy VIII in several years, but still plan on finishing it (trouble is save file is gone so now I have
to start over and lack the motivation to reinstall it). Same for FFX (only no problem with lack of file since it's on me PS2). And FFVII I know precisely
what I have to do, I just don't want to do it...Hojo is such a pain in the ass.
I'm the Doctor! I can save the universe using a kettle and some string. And look at me, I'm wearing a vegetable.
